Although the Grammy-winning band has spent the last year and a half headlining tours in support of Dystopia, the metal legends will humbly step aside to open for the Scorpions.
“It’s somebody I’ve never played with before that we’re actually gonna be supporting,” lead singer Dave Mustaine told Detroit radio station WRIF before the big reveal. “They were so cool that we would step down from being a headliner to support this group.”
Mustaine shared further tour details in a recent interview with Billboard, remarking on the differences the band will encounter on this string of shows versus their headlining acts.
“We’re really excited to see what these different dates are going to be like and have fans see us in different capacities,” stated Mustaine. “The headlining dates will be these diehard fans, and the others where we’re going to be out with this band we’re supporting, and their fans are going to hear us and won’t know us from the man on the moon.”
Before embarking on the Crazy World tour this fall, Megadeth will return to the road in April, hitting three U.S. festival dates in July. Dates here.
